Mukudzeyi Mukombe whose stage name is Jah Prayzah has become a household name on the music scene. His popularity has been buoyed by his talent that runs in his veins. He is the founder of the popular outfit, the Third Generation and the face of the Military Touch Movement.
His popularity has been astounding on the stage with his ability to create excellent pieces of artistic prowess. Each of his offerings has been a hit. He has been able to charm and serenade music lovers with his excellent creations. Hit after hit he has been able to appeal to the masses in Zimbabwe, the region and beyond.
Countless times, he has been able to make collaborations with diverse artists such as the Iconic Legend and National hero Dr. Oliver Tuku Mtukudzi, Chibabababa Soul Jah Love, Sulu, Progress Chipfumo, Baba Harare, among many other local artists.
On the African music scene artistes such as David, Nigerian Yemi Alade, Diamond Platnum, Jah Cure, Charma Girl to mention but a few. His prolific artistic ability was bared when he graced the Coke Studio.
A proud family man born on the 4th of July 1987 at Nyadire Hospital, Jah Prayzah is married to his beautiful wife Rufaro Chiworeso. They have been blessed with a son, Mukudzeyi Junior and three daughters Keanna, Kayla and Kelly. He has never shyed away from showing off his beautiful family unlike other artists whose families remain closely guarded secrets.
The man has been honored with numerous awards that transcend from the local, regional and international. He has received NAMAs, MTV African Music Awards among may others.
As he grew up, he had a great passion to be a Service Soldier no wonder why he has adopted military fatigue as his trademark costume.
Mukudzei completed his ‘O’ and ‘A’ Level education in Harare at Kuwadzana High 1 School. He had a passion for music from an early stage in his life. He is said to have began his music career when he was two years old. He attributes his launch to a Kuwadzana High 1 school teacher who used to play the mbira thumb piano and he also eventually fell in love with the instrument.
During his formative recording years he was into reggae and dance hall. He later traded these genres for what is now termed Afro-jazz. Jah Prayzah went on to record tracks with DJ Thando with Sorry Mama and Seiko? as his first promising projects.
The launch of the Sungano album launched him to prominence. Since then it has been hit after hit. Chipaz promotions promoter Patson Chimbodza took the artist into his stable and his popularity has known no bounds. It is hits such as Gotchi Gotchi that catapulted him to high ground.
It is the album Tsviriyo that made his popularity increase. The same album was bought for US$12000 by Businessman Phillip Chiyangwa. This made him popular the more. He went on to become the first Zimbabwean to win an MTV African Music Award that he won in the Listeners choice category in 2016.
He has produced master songs that shook the nation in the model of Mudhara achauya and Kutonga Kwaro that became the most played songs across the nation. Almost all radios played to these tunes day in day out.
2018 saw Jah prayzah releasing single after single with regional and international artists. He has had collabos with the likes of Davido, Yemi Alade and Jah Cure to mention but a few. His videos have also been so well planned and are spot on showing great dedication to the cause.
His philanthropy was also brought to the fray when he ignited the donation craze after the deadly Cyclone Idai with people from all walks of life taking part in helping in the worthy cause at hand.
