England-based Warriors striker Macauley Bonne has stated that he is joining the squad to the 2019 Afcon despite being left out of the tentative unit announced on Tuesday. Bonne was left out of the 34-man provisionary squad for the two COSAFA and AFCON tournaments announced on Tuesday due to unclear issues emanating from his travel documents. It is said he is yet to get a local passport as he is a holder of British citizenship. There have been issues raised that Bonne may not get a Zimbabwean passport as new migration laws require him to renounce his British citizenship first.
Turning to his Twitter handle after the prelim squad was announced, the Leyton Orient sharpshooter said:
“To counter the press reports, I have completed all the necessary documents to get my Zimbabwe passport. I will be travelling to AFCON 2019 this summer, representing my country.”
