Advocate Nelson Chamisa has sailed through in all 13 MDC Provinces to be the party’s president after congress and beyond. He is poised to be at the helm of the party for the next 5 years and will sure stand at the 2023 plebiscite.
As it stands, Chamisa is the only nominee who shall not face any competition at the Gweru congress. What remains is his ceremonial ascendency to the helm of the party as nominations have closed. The Province of South Africa was the last to submit their list of nominees with Adv. Chamisa appearing uncontested.
The fate of Adv. Douglas Mwonzora is to come to test at the congress as he has fallen out of favour from comrades in his party who were against his eagerness and intentions to challange for the converted presidency seat. He shall battle it out for his SG post against a strong list of possible enthusiasts who might swindle the post he has held into the last national election.
