Econet and all other mobile phone operators have hiked tariffs for voice and data.
They have categorized their charges into per second billing and per minute billing.
Econet will now be charging $0.22 per minute.
Charging, per minute means that even if your call lasts for 10 seconds, you will still pay the full 22 cents.. If you are on a call and it crosses over into the second minute just by a fraction you will pay 44 cents.

An example of the tariff increase has seen Econet raise data tariffs with effect from today, the 30th of April:
WHATSAPP WEEKLY $3 =90mb
FACEBOOK $3
INSTAGRAM $3
TWITTER $3
WHATSAPP MONTHLY $8
FACEBOOK $8
INSTAGRAM $8
TWITTER $8
Daily Data Bundle =$1 per 40MB data $2.50 =250MB.

These increases will mean access to internet connectivity and voice calls will be out of reach for many.
