The African freedom Day was last weekend celebrated by several African communities in Africa and the Diaspora. The Harare Polytechnic joined in celebrating this day at their Harare Campus. The celebrations coincided with Centenary celebrations as the Institution reached 100 years of existence.
The Africa Day celebrations were punctuated by an array of exhilarating musical pieces, Dance, Modeling and Poetry aimed at showcasing African talent, culture and diversity.
In performance on the day where artists that included the popular Hwinza, Gary Tight and Juntal among many others. The theme of the day was: “A Healthy lifestyle prolongs life, Celebrating Africa.” A former student at Harare polytechnic, Dr Davison Gomo was the guest of honor at the event. In a wide-ranging speech he said, “An African is always believed to be a poor person, a person with no confidence and a person with no self esteem.”
Meanwhile Dancehall Legend Winky D and Gemma Griffiths gave a spirited live performance of the MuGarden Hit at the HIICC as part of the Patoranking Show On Africa day. The hitmaker and man of the moment Enzo Ishal was also in performance.
